The great Indian epic, Mahabharat, is a combination of different storylines that happened over time and come all together to explain the main plot, i.e., the war between the Kauravas and Pandavas.
One such example is the story of Parasuraman and his hatred towards people who abuse their power in the Kshatriya Clan. This detestation comes from the personal loss of his own family falling victim to such an abuse of power. Although he is known to be the 6th incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself, it is also widely believed that he came down to earth to act upon the advice of Lord Shiva that was to liberate Mother Earth from adharmic practices such as extremism and superiority over pride.
As he moved on in his life, as a Guru who vowed to only teach Brahmins, he encountered Karnan, the abandoned child born to Kunti and Surya Bhagwan. Karnan was a Kshatriya by birth but raised by a charioteer, and so was known to be a Sutaputra. When Karnan had asked Parasuraman to teach him archery, he lied to Parasuraman that he was a Brahmin. So, Parasuraman took him in as a Sishya. As time went by, Karnan became a very skilled archer under the guidance of his Guru. He even went on to compete against Arjuna, the great Archer himself, and was taken into the family of Kauravas, as a Kshatriya, by Duryodhana so that Arjuna has a fair competitor in the war.
